Pinch hits are participants who are without creators; pinch hitting is the practice of volunteering to make a gift for a pinch hit. These pinch hits are all due on November 8th at 10:00 PM EST.

Fic In A Box has a very unusual set of assignment requirements: everyone is owed (and is asking for) 10k of fanfiction, which by default can be given as one 10k+ fic or several 1k+ fics. Participants have also had the option to opt-in to other minimum lengths or to other formats of fanwork. The other fanwork mediums are given word count equivalents, which you can view on the medium ruleset post.

Additionally:

• Fic In A Box creators may default after partially filling their assignment—say, if they discover that they can only write 9k of fic—and PHs can be picked up in 1k increments!
• You may always swap all or part of your assignment for a PH, just let us know that's what you're doing when you post to claim the PH.
• In order to keep post size down we are including the details in a link to each PH's requests on the app!

In order to pick up a pinch hit you need to either email us or comment on this post (comments are screened) with:

• The amount of wordcount you would like to claim (even if you're going to do fanart or some other non-fic opt-in medium! If you aren't sure what the equivalent would be, we'd be happy to help you convert it!)
• The exact username of the AO3 account you will be posting your fill(s) from (if you post from a different account from the one you give us, we won't be able to count the PH as filled unless you update us!)

Instructions for Filling PHer Requests

Pinch hitters work hard to help us with our exchange, and this event wouldn't be possible without them. As such, we ask pinch hitters who are interested in receiving treats to post below outlining what they'd like to receive, and ask participants to consider treating them!

Pinch hitter treats should follow all FIAB assignment/treat requirements. Post using the instructions under "Posting Anything Without An AO3 Assignment" on the Posting Guidelines.

Instructions for Pinch Hitters

Requirements for requesting:

• You have picked up a pinch hit, including receiving a swapsignment without signing up.
• You are not signed up to the exchange under any username.
• You would like the chance to get treats!

If the above all fit you, then this is where you make requests as a pinch hitter so that treaters can see them!

Guidelines:

You should post your requests as a reply to this post. If you want to split your fandom requests into separate comments, please reply to yourself after your first post.

Since the mods will be checking works to confirm they fill requests, there are some guidelines to help us out!

• Each request should include the following:

Details: (DNWs should be labeled clearly as "DNW" or "Do Not Want".)

• Medium and Length Opt-Ins must be in the tagset and must be requested using the exact wording of the tag.
• If requesting relationship/character/worldbuilding tags which are not in the tagset, please double check the nomination rules to make sure they are allowed characters. Most importantly any RPF/SMP/Vlogging/Kayfabe/Gray Area RPF requests may only be for provably famous adults.
• Please don't remove or significantly change the tag part of requests after you post them, unless adding additional requests/tags.
• If linking to more than one letter (or any other link that contains multiple subposts/links), you must still list any requested fandoms/tags in your comment to this post so that mods can easily verify gifts fill your request. This doesn't apply to the auto-app as long as it's clear and easy to verify what you're requesting.
